I have spoken to a lot of people in and out of Network Marketing over the past year and a half and there is a common theme with both. People IN the BIZ, love the same things. People OUT of the BIZ, give the same reasons why it’s not for them. Here is the reason most people say NO and my rebuttals to them. 🙂 I made a video too!
1. “I wouldn’t be good at it!” OR “I can’t do what YOU do!”
Talk about Self-limiting behavior! Why can’t you do what we do? First of all- it is your business, you can do and NOT do whatever is comfortable for you. BUT, you would be surprised what you can accomplish when you start believing in yourself. Just don’t compare yourself to anyone! You can’t compare your beginning to someone else’s middle.
2. “I don’t like to ‘sell’!”
No one likes to sell! (except those weirdo’s like my husband) But, the crazy thing is, you are selling all the time. You just aren’t getting paid for it. Every time you recommend a restaurant, or ‘check-in’ at a business, or recommend a service to your friends- you are selling. Wouldn’t you like a little kick-back on that ish? It doesn’t need to be ‘bad or weird’ sales. It can be sharing what you love with people that you can help.
3. Isn’t that a pyramid scheme?
UGH! People do NOT even understand what this means. Pyramid schemes are 1. no actual quality product, 2. only selling an opportunity, 3. only first people in can make money. That is not at all what MLM or Network Marketing is about. Anyone at any level can make money, there are high quality products as the focus of the business, you can pass or move beyond anyone above you, and your success depends on helping others succeed and working together.
4. It’s too expensive!
People don’t understand why ‘it costs money to start’. Well- because the company has invested in the products they are sending you, the training materials that they have created to help you get started, and the technology that will help you grow your business. And, don’t get me started on the costs of a ‘normal’ business! For a couple hundred bucks, you can get a crazy starter pack, and training materials to help you grow a business. For a few shackles, you have unlimited growth potential.
5. I don’t have time!
Time is what you make it and it’s all in your head. Crazy-busy people start these businesses and succeed. Partly because they are trying to get out of an even busier job/life, or because they fit the business into their lives where they can. There is never time, there is never a GOOD time, there is only whether or not you are willing to work today so you can work less later.
6. Bonus Reason!
This is one that people don’t ‘say’ but they ‘think’. People are REALLY concerned what people think about them and ‘what will they say’? etc. I am a firm believer (or at least getting used to the concept) of ‘what other people think of me is none of my business’. If people don’t like what you are doing- so what?! Move on! Get on with your bad-self!
