If you’re a human (which most likely you are if you’re reading this), you should be dreaming. Not like asleep at night dreaming, like ‘during the day, consciously, hope and optimism feeling, make you weak in the knees, goal grabbing’ dreaming. I didn’t for a long time though. As kids we naturally do it. “I’m gonna be president, or an astronaut, or Pocahontas (just me?)”. And then someone tells you in high school or college that you can’t be a Native American hero and you stop believing.

But, the big but, is you CAN continue to dream as an adult. Is it harder? Sure. Do people think you’re a little nutty? Probably. But I’d rather be a little nutty than sad and settling. The good news is, I don’t want to be Pocahontas anymore. But I DO want to be absurdly happy. I do want to take chances and do hard things that make my soul smile.

Anyway, today was a good soul-smiling day. I got notification that I qualified for a Car Bonus thru Shaklee! I get extra money every month (on top of my check) to use towards a new car. I’ve been working for this for a while and it feels pretty dang sweet right now.

Here is the video I made

The crazy thing is, I’m not special. I mean ‘we are all special’ blah blah. But I’m no different than you or the next super awesome chick with a good butt… I just wanted it and took a chance. I dreamed and acted. You should too. I’ll show you the way. And then you can ignore me and do it your own way. The point is- it’s possible. Here’s the proof:

****I’m literally in the middle of creating my new website but it is not quite ready yet. Stay tuned. In the mean time, if you want to contact me, leave a comment below and we will get in touch!

I love meatloaf. You love meatloaf. And, if you don’t love meatloaf, you’re doing it wrong (or you’re a vegetarian which is the only acceptable reason not to like meatloaf). Meatloaf gets a bad rap. Partly, it has the world’s worst name. The only thing that I can think of that would be worse is “Lump o’ Meat” or “Spam”. When you think of meatloaf you think of a family in the 50’s with a pile of ground beef and some ketchup. Or you hear Will Ferrell yelling “Mah! Meatloaf!” I assure you, there is a more updated and healthier way to make it. Here is what I do (for the most part, some of the time, well- at least how I made it today)

I used Grass Fed Ground Beef and Ground Turkey as the Meat. I used Ritz Crackers and left over dried croutons from Thanksgiving to make the bread crumbs. You could easily make this entire dish Paleo by using almond flour/meal instead. If I have it on hand, that is typically what I do. You could also omit the cheese if you are super strict. I snuck in tons of veggies to make this dish so that it packs a nutrient punch!

Veg list- Kale, parsley, garlic, onion, sweet potato, carrot (I’ve done it before with zucchini too but didn’t have any in the house). That’s 6 vegetables in 1 meal, suck it Martha Stewart! Not sure why I decided to pick on Martha there, she seems lovely. Anyway….

I made a video to show you how I did it! Yay for videos! Now if only I had someone to hold the damn camera for me so I don’t have to be such a spaz. Watch this.

After you put the loafs together, you can either cook right away or refrigerate for later. That’s what I did today. While my daughter was watching her cartoon, I was pretending to be a skinny, prettier version of Giada in my kitchen. When you are ready, you can glaze with a little sauce (worchestershire-no one knows how to spell that- and tomato sauce or something similar that you like). Bake at 350 for 35 mins, glaze again and turn up to 375 for 10 more mins. That is approximate. I cook it until my meat thermometer says at least 160 (less if it’s just beef) degrees and then I let it sit for at least 10 mins. Don’t be a dick and slice it too soon, it will ruin everything and Santa won’t bring you presents.

And here are some pictures to make you wish you were coming over for dinner…

***If you like to blog and make silly videos and be creative on your own terms, you should work with me! I also sell Shaklee products and am in LOVE with working from home. Comment below or email me at creimholz@gmail.com

Summer and I are lovers. There, I said it. I long for summer all year, and cherish every moment we have together. This summer is extra special because it is my first summer being part-time for the whole season. It’s really freaking exciting. Working part-time = more hours of summer-fun-having. And, since I am kind of an expert at summer (no big deal) I thought I would share with you my ‘must haves’ for a killer summer.*
FullSizeRender (35)

1. Shaklee SPF 30: This sun screen is great and safe and gentle and it works! I use it on the kids and on my face/chest. Like all things Shaklee, a little goes a long way. Protect your skin, protect your babes.
IMG_3274

2. A Great Maxi Dress: There is nothing better than being able to get dressed in 30 seconds and look great for almost any occassion. You don’t even need to shave your legs! I believe that the right maxi dress can be flattering on ANY body type. If you are short and/or curvy, just make sure you create a waste. Any cheap belt from Target will do.

3. Pomegranate Tea and Performance Electrolyte drink: Let’s face it, sports drinks are gross and full of junk (fake sugar, artificial flavors/colors). You and your kids should not be drinking them any more. And, most of those flavored tea drinks out there are loaded with sugar and artificial flavors. These are 2 of my favorite products and I especially like them together! This is my go-to for getting up and moving on hot summer days.
IMG_3255

4. (speaking of drinks…) LaCroix: LaCroix has tons of different naturally flavored sparkling waters. The taste is very mild and pairs perfectly with fresh squeezed citrus and Vodka! Grab some Titos and LaCroix and then invite me to your party.

5. Antiperspirant Cream: Shaklee makes a really great antiperspirant cream and it has become my new favorite. I would always just buy whatever random deodorant off the shelf at Walgreens. Not any more. (btw, I LOVE buying things that I already have to buy anyway..but, from myself. I get paid to buy things from myself. How cool is that?)
FullSizeRender (34)

6. All of the Flats and Wedges: Heels are nice, but sometimes in the summer you need to be careful. You never know when you will be walking thru grass or spending a day walking at a festival. Flats and wedges are a neccessity. They are so easy to find, and can be really cheap if you look in the right places.
FullSizeRender (36)

7. Outdoor Activities: Depending on where you live, summer can be short. Where I live (north of Chicago) I’m lucky to get 4 months. Figure out how to be outside as much as possible. Run outside, do yoga outside, go to movies in the park, swim at the beach, sleep in a tent in the back yard, dine al fresco, sit around a bon fire until 2am, be in nature, lie in a hammock. I swear being outside in nature re-sets your soul and is mandatory for a healthy existence.
IMG_3097

8. Stress Relief Complex: Yay, the kids are home all day…every day….awesome… This helps. You’ll just have to trust me on this one. Winky face.

9. A Sense of Adventure: I got this one from my sister who we call the Queen of Summer. She is a do-er and I am a relax-er (she gets mad at me a lot). But summer is for staying up late and meeting up with friends and traveling to new places and trying new foods/recipes. It is for saying ‘what the hell?’ and putting fun first.
FullSizeRender (32)

10. Sky Guide: I just found out about this app. It is seriously so cool. It’s a map to the stars based on your exact location and where you are pointing your phone. So, if you are outside star gazing, you could point your phone in the same direction and it tells you what you are looking at. What?! I still don’t understand telephones let alone this futuristic insanity.

11. Healthy, quick meals: Summer is not a time for standing in your kitchen cooking! Summer is about smoothies, and salads, and a quick dinner on the grill. This is my absolute favorite protein for smoothies. Perfectly balanced, no artificial colors/flavors/sweeteners. AND, it is designed to help you hold on to muscle.
FullSizeRender (33)

So that is my list of must haves for the summer. What did I miss? Cheers to the best summer yet!

*I am a Shaklee distributor. I make money on sales from these links. I DO love these products, but these are just my personal recommendations. Check with your doctor on anything that you are unsure of.

With Earth Day being just around the corner I wanted to (felt compelled to really) tell you about the best cleaners in the entire world!* I really do believe that. I have never been a person who cared too much about their cleaning products, nor did I really consider the effect they have on the planet and my home environment. That is, until I found out about Shaklee. I have always tried to live as ‘green’ as possible, and I was super obsessed with my family’s health, but I never closed the loop with regards to the air that we breathe in our home 90% of our time. DUH! Does it make sense to ‘clean’ our homes with products that you are not supposed to get on your skin, or breathe in? I think our common sense tells us no.
FullSizeRender (15)

Shaklee is an amazing company that truly puts the planet and people’s safety above anything else. In fact they were the first company to be certified Climate Neutral! That means, if you factor in every single part of Shaklee’s operations, they leave no carbon footprint! Back in the 1960’s, Shaklee came out with Basic H, one of the first all natural, organic, and bio-degradable cleaners ever. Fastforward to 2015 and there are even more amazing products to join Basic H.

Basic H2 is a super concentrated cleaner that has no fumes and is safe for everyone in the family (kids, pets). It has over 1,000 uses and hasn’t let me down yet!
1510575_10203880792007887_4008700972827398920_n

When I switched to Shaklee, I got rid of ALL of my other chemical cleaners and now this is what under my sink looks like. I WISH I would have taken a before picture, because it was completely filled with every cleaner you could think of!
IMG_2358

And, because it is super concentrated, it will last you FOREVER. Okay, not forever, but I am going on 1 year and I am not even half way thru my bottle of Basic H2.
FullSizeRender (16)

Shaklee also has something called a “Get Clean Kit” and it is really your 1-stop-shop for cleaners. It comes with everything you need: Basic H2, spray bottles, Laundry supplies, Dish Soap and Dishwasher detergent, all the accessories you need, cleaning cloths and scrubbers, etc. Everything in the kit is safe, non-toxic, no fumes, bio-degradable, etc. It is an amazing deal and most of the products will last you for months or longer. We have a family of four and I order most of these things only a couple times a year (except the basic h2 which lasts much, much longer). When you compare these products to the conventional store bought cleaners, there is really no contest.
FullSizeRender (17)

And, because it is Earth Month (it really should have it’s own month!), I am offering a special. Anyone who orders a Get Clean Kit by the end of the month, is going to get a FREE Scour Off and receive a FREE membership! Memberships get you a discount on all Shaklee products and never need to be renewed and there are no minimum order rules.

The Scour Off is a scrubbing paste (made from Raspberries!) that is also non-toxic but works better than any chemical-filled cleaner I have ever used. Think tough stains, ovens, showers, etc. Here are the Before and After pictures of my shower floor. Brief history- we had this stain on our shower floor forever. I bleached it, I used scrubbing bubbles, I used some ammonia stuff, and nothing! It wouldn’t come off and so I had given up. I figured we would just need to replace our shower and ignore it until then. Well, I am happy to report, 2 mins. with gentle scrubbing with Scour Off and it was GONE! This stuff is like magic.
IMG_1361
IMG_1363

So, like I said, I am throwing in a Scour Off and Free Membership for anyone that joins with a Get Clean Kit in April. And, as always, Shaklee has a 100% Money Back guarantee! If you don’t like your kit, they would be happy to refund your money.

***I am an independent distributor for Shaklee. I make money on sales from these products and links. I am speaking of my personal experience with these products and how -I- think they are the best. This is my opinion of course.

Ever since starting with Shaklee vitamins, I feel like I need to shout it from the rooftops! I have talked to anyone that will listen to me simply because I feel like the world NEEDS to know what healthy can feel like. But, today I am coming down from the roof top, stepping off my soap box, and putting down the mega phone. I am only going to talk about the everyday products that you are all already purchasing, and showing you the Shaklee alternative.

Why would you want to switch? Well, there are lots of reasons but the big ones are:

1. Shaklee is always safe: We are proud to be non-toxic! The products don’t give off harmful fumes, they are safe to be used around children and pets. I WISH I knew about this stuff when I was wiping down high chairs and had babies crawling on the floor and putting everything in their mouths!

2. Shaklee is always green: Shaklee was the first in the world (!) to become climate neutral. That means, if you factor in everything- corporate headquarters, shipping, packaging, etc.- they leave no carbon footprint. The cleaners are biodegrable, recyclable, concentrated to save on packaging, etc. They are no joke!

3. Shaklee will save you money: This one might surprise people. Some of you have looked at the prices and there might have been a little sticker shock. But, what you need to factor in is how long this stuff will last. A bottle of basic H2 costs $12 for non-members and will last the average person a year. It completely replaces all purpose cleaner, floor cleaner, and window cleaner (and more) for a whole year! For $12 bucks!

4. Shaklee always works: Some of you might be thinking- I don’t care how good it is for the planet if it doesn’t work as well as my…. tide or windex or whatever you are using. The crazy thing is that it does work as well. I actually prefer these cleaners and other beauty products to everything I have ever used.

All Purpose Cleaner and Window Cleaner:
I already mentioned the basic H2 cleaner. It is magical and it does everything. It saves you a ton of money. It’s a no brainer. It is so concentrated that 2 drops is all it takes to make a 16oz bottle of window cleaner.
IMG_1799

Laundry Products:
This was the one that I was most skeptical of. I loved my old stuff. I loved getting lavender scented dryer sheets and the fabric softener with the cute bear. But, the more I read about how bad those are for your home environment, the more willing I was to give the Shaklee stuff a shot. They have a liquid or powder detergent, a fabric softener, a stain booster, and dryer sheets (that can be recycled after you use them (!). I now use these products exclusively. They last forever and my clothes are truly clean and fresh smelling.
IMG_1801

Dish and Hand:
The dishwasher detergent was the first time I thought- they have got to be kidding me! It not only cleaned my dishes, it cleaned my dishwasher! I wish I would have gotten a before/after pic but I never thought in a million years it would clean my old skuzzy dishwasher. This stuff lasts forever too! I opened this bag on 11/13/14 and it is still going strong today 2/13/15. We have a family of 4 and run our dishwasher every.single.day. They also make an amazing dish soap for the sink and a great regular hand wash soap.

Shower:
I use the Prosante Shampoo and Conditioner for my hair and the Enfuselle body wash and face wash for my skin. Again, it’s just another way to get the excess chemicals and harmful ingredients out of our lives. And the teeniest bit goes a long way, you only need a dab.
IMG_1802

Skin care:
I also use the Enfuselle moisturizers and Shaklee antiperspirant cream. Our skin is the largest organ in our body and probably the organ we abuse the most (besides our livers). The C and E repair cream in the picture makes your skin feel like silk. It’s insane.
IMG_1803

I spent months slowly replacing all of my old products. Whenever I would run out of something, I would just replace it with the Shaklee version. So this didn’t happen over night. And now, to save money, I just do a quick inventory at the end of the month. I see what I am going to need and order it all at once to save money on shipping.

FREEBIE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! Because it is Friday, my favorite day of the week because I am free to do whatever I want with my day, I decided to do a sample give-a-way. Here is how you can get a free sample:
1. Comment on this blog post (either below or on Facebook) with 1 product you want to try. It could be from any one of our lines- cleaning, nutrition, weight loss, or beauty.
2. Share this blog post on your wall and tag me or Candysbrain blog

***I am an independent distributor for Shaklee products. I receive payment for sales from the links provided.***

This weekend was a whirlwind! As many of you know, back in May I partnered with Shaklee to start my own business. When I first signed up, I had no idea what I was doing or whether or not it had any potential, but I knew that I had very little to lose and that I could trust the brand. At that point, the best my limiting brain could do was say, ‘maybe I’ll make enough to pay my gym membership’. Since then I have been doing a lot of learning. Learning about the products, learning about direct selling, learning about business, and learning about professional development. Fast forward just a few months and now I have set my sights a lot higher than a gym membership!
IMG_1099

This weekend was the Shaklee regional conference in Chicago. This was my first Shaklee conference and I had no idea what to expect. I knew that it would be exciting, and I knew that some big-wigs were going to be there, but I expected to sit anonymously in the back of the room taking notes. Boy was I wrong! A few days before the conference, one of the people from Shaklee corporate called me asked if I would share my story at the conference. They heard thru the grapevine that I had a funny story about how I didn’t believe in the vitamins when I signed up and gave them away to a friend. I immediately peed my pants (figuratively) but said ‘of course!’ (literally). I honestly didn’t know what I was committing to. I thought a hundred people… Maybe two… Turns out it was like 700 people! I am glad I didn’t know that ahead of time. But, I did it! I did it without throwing up, tripping on stage, without tears or trauma of any kind. I actually said what I meant to say, and it came out the way I wanted it to.
FullSizeRender (6)

I got to meet the CEO of Shaklee (who was awesome by the way) and tons of other very successful people in this business. There is something to be said for surrounding yourself with successful people and just absorbing their positive energy. I got to sit and listen to people who have been doing this business for longer than I have been alive. People who have been using these products for decades! I have never been in a room full of older people with that much energy. I didn’t know it was even possible! I mean that with as much respect possible. If I didn’t believe in these products before the conference, I do now. I saw them in action. These people don’t age!
FullSizeRender (7)

I got to hear the science behind what Shaklee is all about. I am a science gal. I like the nitty gritty details. I like to hear about ‘why’ this stuff works. I like to hear about ‘why’ our products our different. I like to hear about ‘why’ someone thought to extract this tiny little substance from a chardonay grape seed using only water and how that helps improve circulation to your brain! It’s fascinating.
IMG_1113

But, perhaps more importantly, I got to hear about how other people have found success. I got to hear stories of people who made it work in really tough circumstances. And, not just in direct selling or in Shaklee. But succeeding in life, in sales, in business, in any venture. I got to hear over and over the importance of knowing what you want in life and fighting like a maniac to get it. I got to hear about believing in yourself and what you are capable of. I got to hear about how we are all destined for success and happiness and awesomeness; we just need to get out of our own way.
IMG_1110

Freedom is my ultimate goal. It has always been my dream. That is what I am working for. And I am well on my way.

Are you like me?
My New Venture

Hi everyone-

I am writing this today to see if anyone is like me. To see if anyone feels the way that I do.

You see, a while back I wrote a post about my new endeavor. I had decided to become a user/lover/distributor of Shaklee products. This was after months of me wandering around my house in my off hours wondering ‘what should I do with my life?’ I do this a lot. I always have. Doesn’t matter what age I have been, I have always thought to myself ‘what should I be when I grow up’. I recently went part time at my job for many reasons. Most important of those reasons is that I simply wanted to. I felt selfish for deciding that, but I knew deep down that it was the right decision for me. We don’t have a lot of extra money, so this was definitely a sacrifice. I knew that I wanted to do something, but had no idea what.

I found Shaklee, and immediately started to feel inspired. This seemed like the perfect opportunity for me. I could work on my own time, when I had time. I didn’t have a boss telling me when to be there, or have to choose between home time and work time. It was something that I was already passionate about- health and wellness. It was something that I could create into something that was uniquely mine. And, having this side business offered the option of writing as well. I could blog about my health, my business, the products, AND all of the other stuff that I already write about.

More time for me, more time for writing, more freedom.

I was lucky enough that a few of my favorite ladies wanted to join me right off the bat. Now we have a great team, a great blog (well I think it’s great), and a great time working together. On top of that, we are making a little bit of money. When I first started, I thought, I just want to make a little bit of money to put towards groceries or a gym membership. But, now that I see the potential in this, I am setting my sights a little higher. Maybe this is how we go on vacation every year? Or, maybe I can be like one of the many ladies that I know that have made this a part time job with a full time income. I don’t know… What I do know is that I am having fun and doing something that I really enjoy.

So, back to the original question: Are you like me? Do you still have no idea what you want to be when you grow up? Are you looking for something else that is just ‘for you’? Do you want to be passionate about what you do? I’m stepping out of my comfort zone a little here. Normally I am the kind of person that would just sit by computer and hope that you reach out to me and magically sign up to be on our team. But, that is not a good way to run a business. This is my nervous face:

We would love to have you join us. There is a lot of support to take advantage of when you start and we have a whole team of people that are anxious to help you get rolling.

thumbs upTo make a relatively short story long…

Background:

You all know how I have turned into a little bit of a nut when it comes to health and wellness. I mean I guess I have always been this way, but in the last 2 years I have come into my own as they say. I was a tomboy turned athlete turned health studies major turned massage therapist turned health book reader turned blogger turned into what I am now: a super passionate advocate of healthy eating, lifestyle, and common sense living. Or at least that is what I want to be. And recently I just decided to take it to the next level.

Blind Eye:

You see, I have been so worried about the chemicals that my family and I have been putting in our mouths, and have turned a blind eye to the chemicals that we are breathing in and rubbing/spraying on our skin. I won’t let my kids eat Gushers, but clean the bath tub with bleach or spray the kitchen table with toxic chemicals? Sure! Why not?

The Universe is sending me a message:

So, most of you know that I participated in St. Baldricks this March. Well, as you can imagine, my bald head was a big conversation starter. I cannot tell you how many strangers started telling me all about their personal experiences with cancer. Either they were a survivor or lost a wife/husband/friend/child to this horrible disease. It was so difficult to hear all of the sad stories people were sharing, but I also look at those moments as an incredible gift. I can’t tell you how many times I started crying with strangers. It was almost as if the universe was sending me a big flashing sign saying ‘CANCER’. I know cancer is scary, and mysterious, and multi-factorial, and too complicated to simplify, but I do believe there are lifestyle changes we can all make to help prevent certain types of cancer, not to mention, other diseases (asthma, allergies, diabetes, chronic inflammation, etc.).

Then I remembered:

I have this vivid memory from last summer/fall when I had a wake up call from my bug spray. It was a cooler evening. I had very thin leggings on under my dress. I remember the bugs being horrible that night! The mosquitoes were ALL OVER us. My husband does not mess around when it comes to mosquitoes and only buys the deep-woods off. You know the stuff with like 127% DEET? Well, I sprayed that on. And then, an hour later, I sprayed myself again. Eventually we went inside because we couldn’t take it. When I saw my leggings in the light, I noticed that the bug spray was eating away at the material. The leggings were literally dissolving from the chemicals in the spray! I immediately thought to myself, ‘and I spray this on my children?!?’.

Enough is enough:

That memory was all it took. I decided to contact a friend that I knew was selling all-natural products from cleaning to skin care, etc. I did my research and then pulled the trigger. I now use and sell Shaklee. Shaklee has been around forever and has a reputation for being a ‘GREEN’ company. And not like fake green, really truly environmentally conscious and responsible. Every single product is safe and non-toxic. I am incredibly excited about it and want to share it with the world.

From now on:

I no longer need to worry about my kid walking over when I am cleaning the windows. I no longer need to freak out over how much ventilation I have when cleaning my tiny little bathroom. The cleaner that I use to wipe down the counters? I can also spray it on my kids to keep the bugs off. Oh, and my dad can use it to spray down his fruit trees instead of pesticides. Yes, it’s that safe. And they work. Like, really work.

Take a look:

Or, if you want to know more about the business end of things and getting involved, I can help you with that too. Honestly, no matter what type of wellness you are into, there is something for you.

I’ll be updating you all every once in a while, and highlighting a specific product now and then. I’m just really excited and think you would be too if you tried this stuff. 🙂

Thanks for listening.
